Let me be your planner!

I'm thinking about starting a business working with brides to plan their special day - from concepts to completion.  The services I would want to offer would be:

  • Mood Boards for various parts of the wedding.  Bride & Groom ensembles, color scheme, bouquets & boutonnieres, ceremony decor, reception decor and more.  Basically, anything the bride wants direction and focus on I will try to put together something to narrow down her choices.  Now-a-days, in this world of wedding blogs, online magazines and wedding television shows it is very difficult for a bride to make up her mind and come up with a cohesive concept because of all the options available.  I would love to help a bride bring what she has in her head to something visual.
  • A detailed calendar/to-do list.  I know you can get countdown to-do lists online but it is unbelievably helpful to have a day-to-day, week-by-week customized list of what needs to get done and when it should be competed.  My goal would be to have all of the tasks finished the week before the wedding so the bride can relax and enjoy the week leading up to her big day without anything hanging over her head.
  • Mailing Save-the-Dates and Invitations.  It is one of the most time consuming tasks when getting ready for a wedding and I would love to take this responsibility off a bride's to-do list.
  • Help with DIY projects.  Sometimes a bride will bite off more than she can chew when it comes to wedding projects and just needs an extra set of hands to complete everything in time.
  • Rehearsal and Day of Coordinator.  The role of a coordinator is very important.  Churches tend to have coordinators on site but many other venues do not.  Having someone to direct the wedding party and help make the day run smoothly is priceless and very valuable.

Splitting Hairs

Wedding hair, such a conundrum.  You want to be classy, fun, beautiful and most of all the hair envy of all the bridesmaids.  Not really, but really....you do.  Anyway, how can you be all these things and still like your hair years after your wedding?  I'm not sure, but here are some hair styles that are classy, sassy and fun for you to peruse...

The "Top Knot"
This hair style has blown up in popularity but recently I think it's lost a little steam.  However I am still obsessed.  Also, what is more classic than a bun?  Come on people, ballerinas are hella classy.

I'm in love with this girls whole look.  Her makeup and her messy knot.  Don't be afraid to be a little casual in certain areas for your wedding.  I absolutely love the pairing of a formal gown with a not-so-formal hair style.  You want to be comfortable in your own skin and enjoy your day.  Make sure your hair isn't so full of bobby pins that your scalp is bleeding and you're crying from pain, not joy.

Get it sassy girl with red lips!  Lurve the classy vibe she is giving off with her low back black dress.  Brides, you can totally do pull this off.  PS, there is a tutorial...enjoy!

And lastly, a celebrity appearance by Miss Gwen Stefani!  Home girl knows how to slap on the red lips, and the soft messiness of her top knot is perfection.

Bangs
Another beloved trend that has tapered off but I believe will be here to stay for the long haul are bangs!

Jessica Alba looks super classy in this bang example - she's even wearing pearls for goodness sake!

You simply cannot mention "bangs" these days without a picture of Zooey Deschanel because she is the queen of bangs.  So here is the obligatory pic...

Here's a beautiful bride with bangs!  Love it!

And now, a couple pictures of one of my girl crushes - Rachel McAdams.  This lady is absolutely beautiful and can pull off just about any hair color and style, including bangs!

This soft style would be perfect for a wedding.  Once again, don't be afraid to go simple ladies.  Also, her make-up is lovely and would look glorious with a white wedding dress.

And finally...the "Side Ponytail"
This trend was a big deal in the 80's but it looked more like this.....
(Any Napoleon Dynamite fans out there?)

Now, thank the Lord, side pony's look more like this.....(another tutorial ladies!)

Put a braid on it.  Braids are another trend that seems to have peaked but they have been around since, well, forever.  Seriously, the Bible talks about braided hair so I don't think they're going anywhere.

Soft and romantic, Taylor Swift is dripping in charm.

A bridal beauty with a side pony AND a pretty hair piece.

Another girl crush of mine, Keri Russell.  She is a doll and I love her loose, playful side do.

Now, what did we learn today?  Simple, soft and romantic hair styles are classic and can be done at home.  You can always go to the salon to be pampered and to have your hair done just right but in case you are trying to save a few pennies you can also create these styles at home.  Don't be afraid to have a understated hair style on your wedding day.  You will be the only one in a white dress so all eyes will be on you anyway and you want to feel confident and comfortable.  If there are any other ladies in white dresses at your wedding, give me a call and I will tackle them for you or throw some punch on them.  And, I apparently have a love for red lipstick.  It's a reoccurring theme in these pictures.
Happy wedding prep!
